Veteran Uruguayan national soccer team striker Luis Suarez will reunite with “former FC Barcelona teammate” Lionel Messi at Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer (MLS), according to reports.
“Inter Miami has agreed to sign Suarez,” ESPN reports, “with a one-year contract with an option for a second year. All that remains is for the contract to be signed.”레모나토토 도메인
Inter Miami will be Suarez’s new home, as Gremio coach Henato Gaucho confirmed on March 20 that Suarez will leave the club in December.
Suarez is the Uruguayan national team’s all-time leading goalscorer (68 goals in 137 games).
Suarez, who left the European scene for his ‘home’ club Nacional (Uruguay) in July last year, burned his final flame as a ‘national team’ player at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he was virtually eliminated in the group stage.
Suarez moved to Brazilian club Gremio on January 1 of this year and has since shaken off the rust, scoring 10 goals and providing 10 assists in 31 games.
With that said, rumors began swirling last summer that Inter Miami was in the running for Suarez, and fans were eager to see him reunite with Messi.
Suarez played alongside Messi and Neymar (Paris Saint-Germain) at FC Barcelona, where they were dubbed the “MSN Trio.
Suarez and Messi played together for six seasons at FC Barcelona from 2014-2020.
Last month, Inter Miami head coach Herrardo Martino expressed his excitement about Suarez’s arrival, saying, “When the moment comes for Inter Miami to formalize the signing of Suarez, we will be ready in a corresponding way.”
