Hwang Sun-hong’s popularity has hit Incheon as the South Korean soccer team looks to win a third straight Asian Games title.
The Asian Games soccer team, led by Hwang Sun-hong (55), will play Kuwait on Sept. 19, Thailand on Sept. 21 and Bahrain on Sept. 24 in Group E of the Asian Games. The team departed the country through Incheon Airport on Saturday afternoon.
The airport was packed with tourists traveling abroad for the weekend. The popularity of the national soccer team was huge. Head coach Hwang Sun-hong, a top striker in the ’90s, was surrounded by fans, as well as players who made their mark on the A team, including Baek Seung-ho and Cho Young-wook. Hwang was under intense pressure to win the gold medal, but he relaxed by taking pictures with fans.
The players did the same. They didn’t let the fans who had traveled all the way to the airport to see them go. Captain Baek Seung-ho was surrounded by female fans after his interview. Baek Seung-ho took pictures with dozens of them.
The most popular guy was Seol Youngwoo. Not only is he an idol, but he also wore the national team’s training uniform, which turned heads wherever he went. Not only soccer fans but also tourists came to ask for pictures with him. After returning from the A team’s European tour just two days earlier, Seol had a busy schedule as he left for the Asian Games just two days later.
The Asian Games team has finally resolved its biggest issue, the departure of Lee Kang-in. Lee will join the team on the 21st in China. He is expected to play as early as the 24th against Bahrain. Coach Hwang Sun-hong is not rushing to make a decision, saying, “We’ll see how he feels.”온라인카지노
Baek Seung-ho said, “Of course, we are aiming for gold. We had a short preparation period, but we did our best and worked hard. Even if we can’t look perfect from the first match, we will try to improve and win the gold medal.”
